Supports the local economy
Since this is a family business, 100% of the work is done by the owners who are local.  We purchase local produce and whenever possible offer their own fresh produce from their garden and greenhouse and that of neighbor gardeners.  We buy local fresh eggs and milk too, and buy fish from the local fish market. We also gather wild herbs and berries for teas and jam.

The house is entirely heated with wood and most of the hot water for the kitchen and washing is also heated by this system, reducing the use of electricity.  Organic waste is composted, including manure from our horses and this is used to feed our organic garden and greenhouse.  80% of the light bulbs in the house are energy saving bulbs.  Triple pane thermal windows were installed in all 16 windows to conserve heat and the outside of the house is insulated and sided to sustain heat.

Diligans Kamchatka offers accommodations in their own home.  Inside the house is a banya and fireplace, as alternative sources of heat and to cut down on the use of fuel oil.  As well they compost organic refuse for their garden, which is located on the grounds of their home.  We reuse paper and don’t use plastic lunch boxes or boxes.  The Kamchatka Region doesn’t at this time have a recycling plant, however we try to re-use glass, plastic containers always, when the opportunity arises.
